Rebecca Pepin, a local news anchor, was chosen by the
Animal Defense League to receive the Bill Phillips award at the Annual
meeting held June 9. The Bill Phillips award was created to honor a
person who exemplifies the ideals and values promoted by the Animal
Defense League in their mission to help and assist companion animals.
Rebecca volunteers her time to help with rescue animals by walking and
socializing the animals to make them more adoptable. She has organized
a fund raiser to help with the rescue effort, has donated several of her
children’s books (Bobby Dog and the Flying Frog) with all sales
to the Animal Defense League, promoted several Public Service
Announcements for spay/neuter, and is active in many other humane
efforts. Rebecca lives in Abingdon with her husband and special dog,
Jeffrey, who was adopted from the rescue group of the Animal Defense
League. Click the link below to view the PSA
created by Rebecca and PJ for spay/neuter.
