New pictures of animals ready for adoption on Petfinder

Allegra

This lovely young cat, whom we named Allegra, was first brought to our attention the night of June 19 after she had been allowed to be in labor but unable to give birth for 48 hours. The ADL decided to assume responsibility for her, and she was successfully given the recommended C-section. All kittens were lost, but Allegra made a spectacular recovery, healed beautifully and is now up for adoption and ready to meet the world.

She is very, very sweet and loving and has a way of turning up her head when she is in your arms to look you in the face with those beautiful big eyes. Her coat is very soft and velvety to the touch.

We thought you might enjoy this story. Any contribution large or small toward her emergency expenses of $869.25 will be gratefully accepted by the ADL, made out to Animal Defense League and mailed to ADL, P. O. Box 2099, Abingdon VA 24212, marked "Allegra" in the reference line or you can use PayPal to donate.

The "Tail" of Mailbox

A young woman living in an apartment heard a kitten crying outside, went to the vacant industrial field and found an injured small kitten hiding in a discarded mailbox on the ground.  She took the kitten to a veterinarian who cleaned up the maggots, amputated its tail, vaccinated, and dewormed.  The young woman in the meantime had gone on the internet to raise money to pay the bill, which would be $600.  She raised enough money - in one day! - to pay the $600 bill. Not only that, friends of hers want to adopt the kitten. He will be nine weeks old, and is Mr. Personality plus, very affectionate, black with a few white hairs on his throat.
